Deputy Director-General Angela Ellard delivered a lecture to the US National War College on 10 February in which she addressed economic multilateralism as a potent instrument of economic power and sustainable development. She discussed the economic underpinnings and basic principles of the WTO, the successful outcomes from last June’s 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) despite the challenges facing the system, and the need for WTO reform.
