Unilever has announced a $1.5 billion investment in Mexico between 2025 and 2028, signaling its commitment to expanding manufacturing capacity in the region. A key part of this investment, around $407 million, will be allocated to building a new manufacturing facility in Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León. The new plant will focus on producing beauty and personal care products, including well-known brands such as Dove, Rexona, and Sedal.

This state-of-the-art facility is expected to create approximately 1,200 direct and indirect jobs, significantly contributing to the local economy. The location in Nuevo León offers strategic advantages, allowing for more efficient distribution of products to key markets in the United States and Canada. Unilever's move to enhance production in Mexico comes at a time when the country is increasingly becoming a key hub for North American manufacturing.

In addition to economic growth, the new plant aligns with Unilever’s sustainability goals. The company plans to achieve Lighthouse certification for the facility, a prestigious recognition for factories that integrate advanced technologies to improve productivity while minimizing environmental impact. This commitment to sustainability supports Mexico’s "Plan Mexico," a national strategy designed to attract foreign investment and stimulate economic development.

Unilever’s investment is also a reflection of the growing trend of nearshoring, where companies relocate production closer to major markets to reduce supply chain risks and cut costs. By enhancing its manufacturing capabilities in Mexico, Unilever is reinforcing its confidence in the country's economic stability and its growth potential in the region.

With the beauty and personal care market continuing to expand, Unilever’s strategic investment will allow the company to meet increasing consumer demand while adhering to its sustainability commitments. This new facility is expected to play a crucial role in Unilever’s long-term operations in North America, further cementing its position as a leader in the industry.
